DADWEN D/A BASIC SCHOOL RECEIVES REACT’S BOOKS DONATIONS

The pupils at the Dadwen District Assembly Basic School in the Ellembelle district of Ghana’s Western region have also benefited from the REACT/Usborne Book partnership scheme. The donation included assorted practical-based Usborne books and is to help boost children’s reading skills and knowledge base in the community.

Presenting the books on behalf of REACT, the resident Minister of the Church of Pentecost Baseke Wester Region Pastor Isaiah Coker Yankson said, the donation was historic due to the deprived nature of schools in the district. Minister Yankson said he hopes the donation will impact positively on the knowledge base of the children and put them in a better position to react to the socio-economic needs of their community and the nation at large. He urged the school to put the books to good use in other to help raise general leaders.

The Headteacher of the school, Mr. Sulley Hamidu thanked REACT and Usborne Books UK for their kind gesture but also pleaded for more of such assistance to complement the effort of staff who are operating in such difficult terrain. Mr. Hamidu particularly requested for help resourcing their computer science laboratory with laptops and computers to complement the staff’s effort at teaching computer literacy to the children and bring them up to speed with global trends.
