REACT DONATES BOOKS TO BASEKE NO.2 D/A BASIC SCHOOL

REACT Humanitarian Network has donated books to Baseke No.2 D/A Basic school in the Ellembele District of Ghana’s Western Region. The donation forms part of REACT’s ongoing Schools Book Support Scheme and is made possible by Usborne Books UK (https://usborne.com/gb/books) who has been REACT’s major books donor since the scheme launched in 2020.

Shipping and delivery was by kind courtesy of Ofie-Direct Door-door shipping UK ( https://ofiedirect.com/ ) who has been REACT’s humanitarian shipper since 2017 delivering all our donations to Ghana free of charge.

The consignment is also part of a list of Baseke Community school support projects with the ultimate aim of setting up a community library to serve the reading needs of children in the region.

Presenting the books on behalf of REACT, the resident Minister of the Church of Pentecost, Pastor Isaiah Coker Yankson said, it was all joy when the teaching staff and pupils in the school received the books which he strongly believes will boost the children’s reading skills and knowledge base. Pastor Yankson also hoped that the books will be preserved so as to serve the educational needs of children today and the next generation.

The Headteacher of the school, Mr. Anthony Osei not only thanked REACT and its partners for their kind gesture but also said the books arrived at the most critical time when the school desperately needed reading books in their effort to help improve the reading skills and develop the vocabulary of the children. Mr. Anthony said he hoped for more collaborative donations to help the school in the future.
